All you need to do is factory reset the lock without requiring any programming code and restore the default user and programming codes. The step will help you to delete codes or add new ones, too, without any problem.
In this article, you will understand the process to reset the Schlage keypad lock of its most common models without a programming code, and that too within a minute!
Important Things To Remember:
In the case of most Schlage models, all you need to do is disconnect the battery before you push the reset button. You can reconnect the lock battery after a few seconds and keep pressing the reset button till it shows a green light.
For the DE265 and connect models, you will need to remove the battery, hold the button, reconnect again while you keep pressing the Schlage button, and then leave it.
For the Encode model, you will need to remove the backplate of the lock, press the reset button and hold it till the LED is blue.
1. Resetting FE575, BE365, FE595, and BE375 Schlage Keypad Lock:
What you need to do is to begin by disconnecting the lock battery. Grab a screwdriver and remove the security screws carefully from the cover. Put it on the side. Disconnect the battery from the wires.
Now you need to press the button and later release the button. The button appears to be a long button located on top of the number keypad. It may beep even after the battery is disconnected.
Now you need to reconnect the battery after a few seconds. Get hold of the terminal plate on the back of the raised terminals of the battery. You will see the light turn green. Keep holding the button till you hear the beep sound and the light turns green.
It might take a few seconds. After you hear the beep sound, the factory default Programming Code of 6 digits and User Codes of 4 digits will be active again. Screw the lock inside the cover to complete the reset process.
2. Resetting BE468, DE265, and BE469 Keypad Lock:
For these models, you need to remove the batteries first. Unscrew the security screws carefully using a screwdriver. Take the 4 AA battery packs out of the lock.
Press the button located above the number keypad. The DE265 model has a Set button that needs to be pressed. Now, reconnect the battery and keep pressing the reset button in Schlage locks.
You need to slide back the battery pack into the lock with the exposed side facing the door. The next step is to reconnect the wire to the terminals on the pack. Release the set button now. The button blinks for three times if your reset was successful.
Now enter the default User Code of 4 digits written below the keypad or mentioned in the owner’s manual. The auto-handing process will begin.
3. Resetting Encode Model BE489 Keypad Lock:
You need to start by removing the cover plate of the lock. Remove the safety screws carefully using a screwdriver. Take off the plastic cover-up to have a look at the control button and batteries.
Press the reset button and keep holding it till the LED light does not flash anymore. This model has a round, black reset button in the right lower corner of the control panel inside.
The LED will blink in red color while you press the button. You need to hold it till the light stops flashing.
Release the button, and the lock will begin resetting automatically after about ten seconds of releasing the reset button. The process is complete if the LED turns blue.
Now enter the default User Code of 4 digits written below the keypad or mentioned in the owner’s manual. The auto-handing process will begin.
If the process doesn’t begin, you may need to restart the entire process. Put back the cover plate of the lock after the process is complete.
4. Setting of a new programming code for the keypad lock:
You will find the default Programming Code of 6 digits written on a sticker below the keypad or the owner’s manual. Enter this Programming Code before you press the reset button.
You need to enter this Code on the lock keypad. The set button above the keypad numbers will flash three times and appear orange in color. You will also hear a beep sound three times. Press the button again once the beeping is over.
You now need to press the button with number three. The set button will appear orange, and the beep sound will be heard three times. On touchscreen models, this icon appears in green color instead of orange.
Enter your new Programming Code of 6 digits. Choose a code that you will remember easily. Once the new Code is entered, the reset button of the Schlage lock again appears orange and will be beeping three times.
On touchscreen models, this icon appears in green color instead of orange. Re-enter the new Programming Code again for verification. Enter the new Code accurately so that it can be verified.
Ensure you enter the numbers correctly because if you enter them wrong, you need to start the entire reset process again. The button now appears green, and you will hear a long beep sound that indicates that the programming code has been changed successfully.
Use this Programming Code now to delete or add User Codes, turn on the vacation mode, and take care of all other functions of your Schlage lock.
